Short But Sweet

Some weekends are short but sweet. We’ve been doing so much recently and the weather wasn’t really that great, so we decided to just take it easy last weekend.

We went to see Despicable Me 2 which we loved! (See my review of the film here). On Sunday we went out for some delicious breakfast.

We had a lazy afternoon and baked a lemon cake.

It had home made lemon curd inside.

And was SO TASTY!!

The sweetness in our short but sweet weekend.

What’s been happening recently…May

It is the middle of June. I know, it is the middle of June. I was going to put this post up earlier, but what can I say? Busy times. Anyway, some pictures, some memories, from May.

Some more from the weekend.

The final few pictures from our weekend. We just decided to relax on Sunday and catch up with little things we had put off during the week. But there was also:

another little sunny walk,

a nacho lunch,

some baking,

and, happily, some double chocolate chip biscuits (we are eating them a little too quickly)!

I hope you had a nice weekend too 🙂

Picnic Pics

This weekend it was yet again unbelievably sunny and warm. We had planned a picnic and had been looking forward to it all week.

So we sat and ate some lunch in the Mushroom Garden, where it is calm and peaceful and sunny.

In Scotland you never know how long these sunny spells will last so we took our time and stayed there for a while after lunch.

Lying in the sun we even managed to get the faintest of Scottish tans, a rarity in this land, I can assure you.

The weather was so nice that we didn’t want to turn back so decided to spend the afternoon walking around town enjoying the summery sights.

And of course the day was finished off with an ice cream. What else?

Evening Ice Cream

As I wrote about over the weekend, it has been so warm and sunny here recently, right through to the evenings. On Tuesday night, when Fraser got home from work, he had the wonderful idea to go out for a walk and some ice cream. Best suggestion ever! So we set off in the still sunny streets.

We decided to go to our favourite ice cream place via the Meadows because that is one of the most beautiful places to be when it’s sunny.

There were still so many people sitting out, barbecuing, and enjoying the weather.

I know I say it a lot but Edinburgh really is so beautiful!

It was a really nice walk but by the time we got to George IV Bridge we were hungry and in need of ice cream.

And it did not disappoint, it was SO tasty!

This might be a little odd, but there is a graveyard just around the corner from the ice cream place and that is where we usually go to enjoy it. It is quiet and peaceful and nobody seems to mind.

It was getting late so it was time to go home, but I’ll say it again, I am really enjoying this weather, especially when we get such lovely evenings!

Invitingly summery Meadows:

An interesting Meadows festival with a random assortment of stalls:

Including a giant bee:

And a dog show that included a dog egg (well, tennis ball) and spoon race:

Walking under the trees seeing what is left of the lovely cherry blossom:

Ending the day with a chocolate milkshake for Fraser and a lemon zester for me:

And a reminder of just how long it stays light at this time of year with the sun slowly setting over the city:

Please, lovely weather, stay for as long as possible!
