A slightly condensed version of this kind of post. Autumn was a busy season, here are just a few pictures of what happened… (Note: the last picture is the pumpkin that Fraser carved, as a tribute to Breaking Bad, our Heisenpumpkin. I thought it was amazing! It’s become a Halloween tradition for Fraser to carve an elaborate pumpkin).

Fun Weekend
I always love having relatives to stay, it’s great to catch up and have time to chat. This last weekend my uncle, Andy, stayed with us for four days and we had such a lovely time. The weather was not always reliable (though I suppose in Edinburgh that’s reliably unreliable), but we got out as much as we could and enjoyed the city and each other’s company.
Sunday was particularly nice as we went to the Royal Botanical Gardens and spent the day there amongst the greenery.
We found a little Chinese garden in a quiet area and had some lunch there.
This little guy joined us.
Then we spent some more time exploring the gardens and talking.
This was my favourite tree of the day, all intertwined branches, if it had been a little taller it would have been the perfect tree for climbing.
All four days were lovely and on the last day we had just enough time for a little walk through the city centre before heading to the train station.
We went to a lovely old cemetery and enjoyed the quiet, calm atmosphere.
What a wonderful weekend with family.

Snow Tinted Edinburgh Part 1
The snow finally reached Edinburgh this week, although so far we seem to have not had nearly as much as the rest of the country.
Lamenting that the snow didn’t manage to arrive in time for Christmas we decided to go for a little wander around the neighbourhood to inspect the snow covered views.
It hadn’t really settled on the ground much but the trees and the Meadows still looked really pretty.
Of course it was very cold so we soon sought the warmth of a cafe and defrosted over coffee. I hope the snow stays for just a little bit longer, I love being able to observe the changing seasons and it makes familiar landscapes look different and interesting. By the sound of it we have at least a few more days of wintry views ahead of us.
Last few days at home
Here is the last group of pictures from the final lovely, relaxing days at home. I couldn’t have asked for a better Christmas at home with my family. We had some beautiful frosty mornings, displaying the very best of the winter season, including the little birds pecking away at the food in the garden. All in all it was wonderful to be able to spend a few weeks together.
November Means
November. Well, first of all it would appear that November means I have been so busy that there has been no time for blog posting. This is bad, very bad. I created this blog first and foremost do document memories, now I may look back on 2012 one day and it will seem as if November just disappeared. Very bad. All I can do is try to strive for better. So I felt that perhaps a summarising post would be best, depicting what November means (you know, to jog my memory in years to come). So here we go.
First of all, November means really amazing skies, here are some images I captured one evening whilst out and about. It really was amazing and is not adequately reflected through photographs, but I hope the general idea comes across:
November also means cold afternoons speant in a cozy kitchen trying out baking recipes. Here double chocolate chip, and chocolate orange biscuits.
November means visits from cousins,
and going to Christmas shops with other cousins to buy decorations.
November means drizzly autumn walks amongst the now leafless trees,
with this lovely guy. . .
November means train journeys from east to west.
November means eventually arriving in Dumfries to spend time with family and relax with some food and drinks,
in front of a warm fire.
November means getting some early Christmas shopping in and then going out for some much needed warming up lunch.
Above all, November definitely means enjoying some delicious meals at home as the wind and rain rage outside.
Onwards and upwards (to hopefully a month with more blog posts) to December and the Christmassy madness. It’s beginning to look a lot less like November.
Beautiful Autumn (Part 4)
Beautiful Autumn (Part 2)
Beautiful Autumn (Part 1)
I think I can safely say that this autumn has been the most beautiful autumn I have ever experienced. Especially those first two weeks in October, but largely the pretty weather has continued throughout the month. Words cannot really do justice to this, so I have decided to create a mini-series here called Beautiful Autumn, of a few snaps I took around Edinburgh in the glorious, golden sun.
